10/7/09 - The Beginning of My ESL Adventure

A short meeting on Thursday, May 21, 2009 changed my life.  After being on a long term accounting assignment with a N. CA employment agency at a County Auditor-Controller's Office for nearly 17 months, I was told by the Assistant Auditor-Controller that my assignment was ending on Jun. 5.  He said it was not my job performance but the economy that caused my loss.  With the poor economy, County property values were down.  With property tax revenue down, the County, specifically his department needed to cut costs, and two more consultants, including me, were being let go in June.  Two had previously been let go in Feb. 2009.

Since God had previously spoken to me in a number of ways about ESL, my direction and mooring that Memorial Day holiday weekend was toward that field.  I have been involved with internationals since I started college in the early 1980s.

My purpose with this blog is to write about how and when my ESL adventure began and chronicle my mountaintop and valley experiences as I journey toward the calling God has given me for my life.  Hopefully this blog will encourage and strengthen you in your personal journey and calling He has for you.  Please comment and let me know so He will be lifted up.
